Slightly smoky, full-bodied, and goes extremely well with a roast leg of lamb. If you're new to the Grenache grape, this is an excellent (and lower-priced) place to start!
Herencia Altés Negra Garnatxa 2011, D.O., Terra Alta, Spain: Another incredible value and full-throttle wine made from 100% Grenache from very old vines and aged completely in concrete, is a naked, unadulterated, unmanipulated effort with great minerality from the chalky, limestone soils and an intensity and richness from the old vines that are normally found in $50+ wines. Loaded with black cherry liqueur, dark spices and anise. Full-bodied and ultra-smooth. Love Aussie shiraz or big chateauneuf-du-pape? Try this. Honkin big and satisfying. Hearty meat dishes will serve it well. Drink: 2013-2016. 332353 14% XD 750 mL $15.95 Score: 90/100. June 8, 2013 Best Value Red Wine. Heavenly Hamburger Wine Full Review
