Being in the military, we attended a lot of Mess Dinners and a hi-lite of those dinners was the port served at the end of the meal.
Harwood Estate's Marquesa is a port styled fortified wine made from the Marquette grape. It is ruby red in color with aromas of raisons, cassis and warm spices. This wine is warm and full with spiced honey and black cherries on the palate with a velvety smooth finish.
This wine would pair well with chocolate but we found it was just incredible with some local 9 year old cheddar we tried it with. It would also go great with other aged or blue cheeses!
