The 3 grape blend that goes into the famous Valpolicella red, Ripasso and Amarone wines is remarkable in flavours and aroma. This particular dark ruby red Ripasso from the Veneto region in northern Italy has aromas of dark fruit, raspberry and some spice. A nice balance of fruit, acidity and tannins with flavours of cherry, dark fruits and some earthiness to it. It also has a nice dark fruit finish. It pairs well with most Italian pasta and pizza dishes without the big bold and sometimes overpowering flavours of an Amarone.
Enzo Vincenzo Valpolicello Ripasso 2010, D.O.C., Italy: Stunning for the price! Full-bodied with smoky, seductive black fruit. Full-bodied and smooth. Buy a case and smile smugly. Drink: 2013-2016. 12443 13% XD 750 mL $14.95 Score: 89/100. March 7, 2013 Complete Cheese Pizza Wine Full Review
