Another nice Tuscan blend of Sangiovese (70%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (30%). There's a lot going on in this wine. When it's first opened an earthy aroma comes out but after sitting for a few minutes the fruit starts to come forward. 16 months in a variety of french oak gives it some depth and the tannins are pronounced but smooth. A full bodied wine with a long sour cherry finish
Visit their website at http://www.tenutadighizzano.com/EN/index.html . Lots of good information on their harvesting and vinification.
Tenuta Di Ghizzano Veneroso 2009, I.G.T., Tuscany, Italy: Love it! Classic and structured and intriguing. Black fruit and smoky mystery on the nose. The palate floods the senses with black plums, anise and dark spices. Considerable structure, complexity and concentration. This will do well in the cellar, but it'll be difficult to wait. The wine is a blend is 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Drink: 2014-2022. 103218 13.50% D 750 mL $29.95 Score: 96/100. March 16, 2013 Top Rated Red Wine.
