Andrew Bernardo Wine Journal rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Guigal continues to excel in the Northern Rhone. This offering from the tremendous 2009 vintage reveals garrigue, red briar, black cherry, sous-bois, and smoked game. What a wine. Drink now through 2019. 92 Points. (ottawawinejournal.com)

E. Guigal Saint-Joseph 2009, A.C., Rhône, France: Anise, smoke and cedar forest wrap gently around fleshy black cherry aromas. Full-bodied, dry and robust with a good tannic grip. Smoke on the finish. Complex and balanced. Great with a pepper steak. Classic Rhone. Drink: 2014-2017. 30031 13.50% XD 750 mL  $31.95 Score: 92/100. March 16, 2013 Top Rated Red Wine.
