reviewed this wine as follows:
Black cherry, burnt toast, smoke, raspberry and some vanilla aromas. Black cherry, raspberry, menthol flavours. Touch of acidity at mid-length, finishes smooth with some bitterness. Medium-bodied. Some light tannins make it ageable, but definitely ready to drink now. Having this tonight with oven-baked chicken.
13th Street Winery Gamay Noir 2008, V.Q.A., Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, Canada: Serious oak but it’s integrated with the fleshy blackberry notes. Mocha and espresso smoke wrap around a black fruit core. This is a very full-bodied style of gamay noir and I really like it. This wine won a Gold Medal at the 2010 Ontario Wine Awards. Drink: 2011-2014. 177824 12% D 750 mL $17.95 Score: 89/100. February 19, 2011 Full Review
