Reverse Wine Snob reviewed this wine as follows:

This is a dry, thin, below average Malbec. We found it be a bit sour and are somewhat mystified about the popularity of this one. Luckily we drank it while watching a really good movie (Secretariat) so all was not lost. Because we were able to get this one for only $7.99 it will just barely get a Second Chance rating, but if you have to spend more than that, our advice would be to Skip It.

Alamos The Wines of Catena Malbec 2009, Mendoza, Argentina: Vintages Wine Panel: Catena’s Alamos Malbec is always a fine ambassador for Argentina’s signature grape. Be prepared for a rich, full-bodied wine with concentrated fruit flavours of raspberry and cassis blessed with heavenly doses of chocolate and sweet spice from the light oak ageing. My note: A pleasant sipper with lovely blackberry aromas. Medium- to full-bodied and smooth. A solidly made wine with terrific balance. Ripe blackberries and pepper. Perfect for barbecue and movie night. Drink: 2010-2014.  467951  13.50%  D  750 mL  $13.95  Score: 88/100. December 10, 2011  Full Review
