Natalie's Review

Wakefield Merlot 2008, Clare Valley, South Australia, Australia: Vintages Wine Panel: The Taylor family has been crafting wines in the Clare Valley for decades. This rich, Gold Medal-winning (2009 Royal Hobart International Wine Show) Merlot offers aromas of red berry fruit and cassis with appealing whiffs of chocolate, spice and sweet tobacco. The aromas replay beautifully and the juicy-fruity flavours are ably balanced by subtle oak characters of nutmeg, spice and vanilla. My note: A red that possesses rich plum fruit notes with some hints of smoke.┬áRound, supple and full-bodied. Terrific price. 683201 14.50% XD 750 mL  $17.95 Score: 89/100.
