Valerie Stride rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

A fantastic year for Nota Bene, and the 13th leaf in the vineyard. This wine is developing nice and slow. I imagine it to be "the wise one". Peppercorn, leather, coffee, mocha, chocolate, and vanilla all work intrepidly with the plum, cherry, and raspberry fruits on the bouquet. The firm tannin structure on the palate and high acidity means this wine can sit down for a while. In my notes I called this vintage "dark and mysterious". Earthy, spicy, fruity...this vintage shows something from all categories. The long length just means you can sit and enjoy this wine for a long time! [Cabernet Sauvignon 48%, 41% Merlot, and 11% Cabernet Franc]
Glenn Fawcett reviewed this wine as follows:

This wine exudes depth and complexity. I decanted a bottle of the 2008 before dinner and it blew my guests away. Wow!

Natalie's Review

Black Hills Estate Winery Nota Bene 2008, Okanagan Valley, BC, Canada: This wine needs time: it's a big brooding bruiser! Gorgeous aromas of black fruit and smoke with some mocha and cedar forest. Towering structure and great length on the finish. The wine was aged in 80% French oak and 20% American. The final blend is 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc. Drink: 2012-2017. 708073 13% D 750 mL  $53.00 Score: 90/100. April 22, 2011  Full Review

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
