Darlene Myers CAPS Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Burrowing Owl is one of my favorite vineyards in Canada with a great staff and great wine. This Merlot is full of juicy dark plum flavours with cedar and smoke and soft tannins to round it off. I have a shipment of this wine on order and can't wait to receive it and enjoy it even more.

Burrowing Owl Estate Winery Merlot 2009, V.Q.A., Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada: Savoury and delicious with full-bodied goodness. There's almost a meaty note mid-palate: intriguing and satisfying, especially when you're enjoying pork tenderloin or prime rib. Aromas of dark plum and blackberry with some smoke on a long finish.
