Drink Wine and Giggle Gals rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Of the Drink Wine and Giggle Gals, only Deb Mangolt has been to San Gimignano--but thanks to Palagetto Tenute Niccolai Vernaccia Di San Gimignano, we can all say we have tasted the little medieval town in Tuscany known as the Town of Fine Towers. The ancient vernaccia grape grows in the sandstone hillside outside San Gimignano giving the wine high acidity and a "flintstoney" minerality. Eels seeped in vernaccia wine were alleged to have led to Pope Martin IV's gluttony that placed him on terrace six in Dante's Mount Purgatory. Perhaps we were seduced by thoughts of gluttonous piazza delivery, but we loved this crisp, dry, citrusy wine that we seeped in grilled salmon. (Note to the word/wine fetishists: vernaccia is said to derive from vernaculum, the Latin word meaning "of the place" that is also the root of the word vernacular.)
