It's not often you hear about Pinot Gris coming out of Alsace, but this was a delightful surprise. Crisp with citrus and tropical notes, and a tinge of sweetness at the end that will have you reaching for the bottle for a second glass. I had this wine at a tasting but I definitely want to try it with some spicy food.
Pierre Sparr Réserve Pinot Gris 2011, A.C., Alsace, France: A lovely, sunlit wine with attractive aromas of ripe peach and pear. The moderate sweetness is perfectly balanced with refreshing acidity so this wine will be divine with Asian and spicy dishes as well as those with some sweetness like glazed ham.
