Oct 25, 2014: Medium ruby/garnet with lovely perfume of red fruit, dried fig, baking spice, dried herb, chocolate, anise, earthy and just a bit of wild gaminess lingering. Medium-full bodied, complex and maturing nicely with fig, plum, dried cherry/berry, cedar, spice, tobacco and mineral notes. Round and full on the palate, intensity is a little restrained, but with good balance with medium acidity and fine tannins that still have some grip on the long finish. Try pairing with a mild curried lamb on whipped cauliflower - (my spicy curry was a bit brutish for the wine).
Château de Beaucastel Coudoulet De Beaucastel Mourvèdre Grenache Syrah Cinsault 2007, A.C., Côtes Du Rhône, France: A spectacularly rich and robust red that bursts out of the glass with aromas of black raspberry, and dark spices. Nicely balanced with a robust weight and long finish. Drink: 2010-2022. 48884 14% XD 750 mL $29.95 Score: 91/100. July 24, 2010 Full Review
