Château De Giron Laurence Lataste, Vit. Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2006, A.C., Graves, Bordeaux, France: Vintages Wine Panel: Winemaker Laurence Lataste is a member of Les Aliénor du Vin de Bordeaux, an association of twelve women winemakers or producers’ wives, from twelve different appellations. Formed to promote their wines, the group is named after Eleanor of Aquitaine, who encouraged winemaking in the region in the 12th century. Nose greets you with aromas of crushed berries, coffee and spice. On the palate, flavours of blackberry, raspberry and strawberry await. An enjoyably soft wine with good fruit and good length. Age it 2-4 years, or savour it now. My note: Phenomenal value for this balanced, beautifully structures and classically style Bordeaux. Signature aromas of blackcurrant and cassis with some blackberry all wrapped in a judicious use of oak for a smoky finish. This is as cheap as you’re going to get Bordeaux: grab it while you can. Drink: 2010-2017. 138727 12.40% XD 750 mL $18.95 Score: 89/100. July 24, 2010 Full Review
