Tabalí Reserva Especial Pinot Noir 2008, Limarí Valley, Chile: Vintages Wine Panel: The cooler climate Limarí Valley seems to be a winner for producing Chilean Pinot Noir. Pale- to medium-ruby colour, with a hint of opaqueness suggesting it was unfiltered. Aromas are in plentiful supply: blueberry, cherry, cracked pepper, raspberry, mineral/earth and smoke. Many of these scents emerge on the palate. It’s fruity but a vibrant acidity and gentle tannins bring balance. A creamy, well-handled oakiness comes on the mid-palate. Medium bodied with a rather lengthy, fresh, clean finish. My note: juicy and silky with the Platonic ideal of fleshy ripe cherries. No oaky flavours with some light baking spices. Absolutely delicious. Definitely the New World fruity style. 47514 13.50% XD 750 mL $19.95 Score: 90/100. March 6, 2010 Full Review
