One of the things I like about wine is it's history and the background on James Oatley and how he went from convict to vineyard owner is interesting to say the least. They produced a bright yellow Chardonnay from Mudgee (85%) & Pemberton (15%) in Australia with a nice aroma of citrus and pear. A long grapefruit finish with some vanilla and minerality makes this crisp chardonnay a nice accompaniment with salmon, lobster or sitting on the back deck eating peel and eat shrimp.
Robert Oatley Vineyards James Oatley TIC TOK Chardonnay 2009, Mudgee Pemberton, Australia: Balanced, full-bodied and flavourful but not heavy. Lots of lemon and pineapple notes with a toasty finish. Drink: 2012-2013. 187104 13% D 750 mL $14.95 Score: 87/100. June 22, 2012 Full Review
