Andrew Bernardo Wine Journal
rated this wine as 91/100
with the following review:
Black raspberry and briars after 18 months really shine through since my the last tasting note. Tobacco and black licorice still present, but the fruit has rounded out and the tannins have softened considerably. Exceptional chalky minerality, with a touch of flowers (violets come to mind) and spice. Touch of light roast coffee and earth on the nose and finish as well. New oak supports in a subtle way, but by no means a main component, allowing the fruit really to shine. I'm 91 on this. (ottawawinejournal.com)
Juan Gil Tinto 2006, D.O., Jumilla, Spain: Dark chocolate nose with fleshy blackberries and raspberries on the palate. Full-bodied, dark and brooding. Don’t mess with me kinda wine. 1677 14.50% D 750 mL $21.95 Score: 90/100. February 6, 2010 Full Review
