Caryl Mostacho rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Lots of legs. Strong spicy rioja with lots of dark berry and pepper flavours. The kind of wine I would recommend for a rich red meat dinner. However, it's sophisticated enough to enjoy on it's own. It's a good choice any day of the week.

The 2004 Ramon Bilbao Gran Reserva is a medium bodied, integrated wine, with intense aromas of cherry, chocolate, leather, oak, coconut and vanilla. It has a nice structure with good acidity, tannins that are refined to tannic (decant for 30 or more min) and a long finish. It is ready to drink now and will be for the next 5 or more years. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 91 pts and a recommended buy. Tasted Dec/11.

Ramon Bilbao Gran Reserva Tempranillo 2004, D.O.C.A., Rioja, Spain: Loving that mature, leather-dried fruit aroma that reminds me of a book-lined study. Pass the pipe, will you? Oh right that’s not healthy, never mind. Elegant, classy and complex. Drink soon. Drink: 2008-2014. 244715 14.50% D 750 mL  $29.95 Score: 90/100. December 10, 2011  Full Review
