Valiano Poggio Teo Chianti Classico 2006, D.O.C.G., Castelnuovo Berardenga, Tuscany, Italy: Vintages Wine Panel: This wine won Grand Gold at the 2010 Mondus Vini in Germany. Rich and invigorating aromas of blueberry, cherry, mint and pipe tobacco on the nose. Good structure and balance throughout, with a lovely seam of acidity, velvety tannins and a very nice, long finish. Cellar 3+ years or enjoy now. My note: Rugged and tannic; it’ll calm down nicely after 2 hours decanted alongside a juicy steak. Quite lovely after that settling. Full-bodied with black pickin-a-fight fruit.
