Seghesio Sonoma Zinfandel 2009, Sonoma County, California, United States: Vintages Wine Panel: The Seghesio name has been a part of Sonoma's Zinfandel story since 1895. Today, sourcing grapes from vines averaging 25-30 years in age, they produce some of the best Zins going. Their 2007 was #10 on Wine Spectator's Top 100 list of 2008 - certainly no fluke. Their 2009 shows notes of raspberry, blackberry and subtle spice. Demonstrating great structure, this is an elegant Zin. My note: Wonderfully rich and ripe with flavours that don’t overwhelm. It’s hard to believe that this is 15% alcohol as it certainly doesn’t taste that robust. Full-bodied, yes, but balanced and delicious.
