Finca Flichman Gestos Malbec 2009, Mendoza, Argentina: Lovely plummy notes mingle with mocha and blackberries. Deep, rich and supple, this full-bodied red has lots to offer. It was aged for 6 months in American oak (60%) and French oak (40%) and then another 4 months in the bottle. It's ready to drink when you are. This wine will be available in the Vintages September 26 release, but you may find it elsewhere before then. 68999 14% XD 750 mL  $14.95 Score: 88/100. January 7, 2012 Best Value Red Wine. Wynns Coonawarra Estate Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, Coonawarra, South Australia, Australia: Luscious and rich with cassis, fleshy blackberry and blackcurrant. Absolutely classic with a long finish. Tremendous quality for the price. There's some seductive anise and dark spice on the long finish. The bold wine has longevity, not only for this vintage in your cellar, but also this particular wine has been made now for 54 years. It's matured in French oak and the grapes are selected from Wynns' top vineyards. Liquid velvet. Drink: 2013-2017. 84996 14% XD 750 mL  $27.95 Score: 95/100. October 12, 2013 Top Rated Red Wine. Barossa Valley Estate Ebenezer Shiraz 2007, Barossa Valley, South Australia, Australia: This spectacular red wine manages to be both rich and deeply flavoured yet fresh and vibrant. How do they do that? Well, I'm not going to spend a lot of time trying to figure it out: let's just enjoy the fruits of their labour, shall we? A corridor of cool mint blackberry happiness breezes up from the glass. Full-bodied, supple and gulpable. You will want more so don't just buy one bottle. Great with hearty meat dishes. Love that this is a mature Shiraz: hard to find those on the market these days: offers an intriguing look at just how well superbly crafted Australian Shiraz can age. Drink: 2013-2018. 971705 13.50% D 750 mL  $39.95 Score: 94/100. July 5, 2014 Top Rated Red Wine. Best Beef Wine Full Review
The Hedonist Walter Clappis Wine Co. Shiraz 2010, Mclaren Vale, South Australia, Australia: A towering, blockbuster red wine from Down Under! Superb intensity and concentration of flavour. Savory, meaty and juicy with luscious layers of black fruit. This is a big-boned wine, yet balanced. Love the replays of fleshy blackberries and plums across the palate. Mouth-watering and perfect for ribeye steak. Bring it on. Drink: 2013-2018. 90191 14% XD 750 mL  $23.95 Score: 93/100. July 5, 2014 Top Rated Red Wine. Spectacular Spicy Wine Full Review

Domaine De La Presidente Nonciature 2007, A.C., Châteauneuf Du Pape, Rhône, France: A mellow, but full-bodied Châteauneuf that has aged beautifully. I like the more subtle dark fruit and dried herb and smoke aromas coming out of the glass versus full-on red and black fruit of youth. Drink: 2011-2018. 237339 14.50% XD 750 mL  $44.95 Score: 90/100. Henry Fessy Moulin-Â-Vent Gamay (Beaujolais) 2009, A.C., Beaujolais, France: Juicy and vibrant with come-alive raspberry-cherry berry notes. I really like this because it’s not too sweet on the fruit ripeness, and have great mouth-watering juiciness. Medium-bodied and smooth. Drink: 2009-2014. 332882 13.50% D 750 mL  $21.95 Score: 90/100. Chateau De Gourgazaud 2009, Languedoc, Roussilon, France: Stunning for this price point! Reminds me of classic Bordeaux: woodsmoke, cassis and leather with some black pepper on the nose. Full-bodied and smooth. Layers of terrific flavour. This wine is a blend of syrah and mouvedre grapes. Drink: 2010-2015. 22384 13.50% XD 750 mL  $12.55 Score: 89/100. January 3, 2012 Full Review
Alpha Estate Red 2008, Florina P.G.I., Greece: This big-bones Greek red wine offers plenty of drinking pleasure. The Alphas Estate is the winery's flagship wine and the blend of red grapes comes from the estate's best vineyards that are mostly alluvium, sandy, clay soils with excellent drainage and a semi-continental climate which results in deep concentration and depth in the wine. The French oak barrels for aging were of medium toast and fine grain. This wine was unfiltered and has all the good stuffing left in it. Drink: 2015-2020. 92361 14.50% D 750 mL  $31.95 Score: 91/100. RavensWood Zinfandel 2010, California, United States: Ravenswood is one of California's zinfandel pioneers, and remains one of its best producers today. This terrific Vintners Blend Zin offers enticing aromas of spice, black raspberry, brambleberry and blueberry and raspberry. It's terrifically vibrant with layers of textured flavor. Smooth with polished tannins and a warm finish are perfect for the barbecue because it has the flavours to stand up to grilled meats but a juiciness that is a terrific complement to the smoky flavours. Belle Glos Dairyman Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, California, United States: Full-on chocolate, mocha and espresso aromas on the nose almost over-power the cherry fruit underneath. Liquid fudge. Generous oak aging adds richness and those dark chocolate flavours. Supple and smooth. I prefer other Pinots from this winery, but to each his own taste-wise.
