La Garde Des Lions Visan Les Coteaux Visan 2007, A.C., Côtes Du Rhône-Villages, Rhône, France: VC : Gold Medal winner at the 2008 Vinsobres Concours Interprofessionnel des Vins AOC Côtes du Rhône Villages. Aromas of berry, vanilla and spice abound here. The palate shows good fruit replays, with ripe plum, blackberry and raspberry prominent. Nice vanilla notes and a spicy mid palate leading to a concentrated finish. My note: Buy a case of this wine: it’s staggeringly great for the money! A river of dark cherry liqueur concentration runs through its heart wrapped in some woodsmoke and dark spices. This is liquid sensuality. Full-bodied and smooth with lovely long finish. Bring it on! Drink: 2011-2016. 222588 14% D 750 mL  $14.95 Score: 90/100. June 25, 2011 Best Value Red Wine. Luscious Lamb Wine Full Review
Cantine Paololeo Riserva Salice Salentino 2006, Puglia D.O.C., Italy: Another typo with price! Grab up a case while you can for your parties. Full-bodied and smooth with an incredible elegance and finesse. Dark fruit and a long finish to contemplate just how much you saved buying this wine. Bonus: the label looks expensive so it also makes a great gift wine. Drink: 2011-2015. 214700 14% D 750 mL  $14.95 Score: 89/100. July 9, 2011 Best Value Red Wine. Full Review
Le Tobele Amarone Della Valpolicella Ripasso 2008, D.O.C., Veneto, Italy: Vintages Wine Panel: An exceptionally priced, complex Ripasso that gains its extra depth and richness of flavour from the grape skins of Le Tobele’s Amarone. Chocolate and black cherry fruit with hints of raisins on the nose. Medium-full bodied and offering dried fruit, spice, and a sweet core. Dry and fruity on the finish. My note: A juicy and mocha-filling sensation wafts out of the glass. Liquid plums play with your tastebuds until you are very happy. Full-bodied and smooth. Fantastic price. Drink: 2011-2014. 106914 14% D 750 mL  $15.95 Score: 89/100. July 9, 2011 Best Value Red Wine. Full Review
Renzo Masi Chianti Riserva 2007, D.O.C.G., Tuscany, Italy: Vintages Wine Panel: This is an absolute blockbuster of a Chianti. Intense, wonderful aromas of blueberry pie, black cherry, damson plum, cinnamon rolls, mocha/chocolate and pipe tobacco. The palate handsomely repays these wonderful aromas. Dry, ripe, spicy. Quite lovely and impressive for the price. On the mid-palate, a fine wave of tannins come in to bring a just-right balance. Medium bodied with a very complex and lengthy finish. Enjoy with a fine steak, simply seasoned and grilled. My note: Loving it! A terrific, classic Italian chianti and mama mia, the price, benne! Bring on the lasagna, pizza and pasta. This wine is so ready for it all. Aromas of dark cherries, sun-dried tomatoes and smoke. Drink: 2009-2014. 969469 13.50% XD 750 mL  $17.95 Score: 89/100. May 28, 2011 Best Value Red Wine. Perfect for Italian night! Drink: 2009-2014. 178459 13.50% XD 750 mL  $17.75 Score: 88/100. May 28, 2011 Best Value Red Wine. Full Review
Cline Cellars Ancient Vines Zinfandel 2009, California, United States: Vintages Wine Panel: The 2009 Ancient Vines Zinfandel is awash in raspberry, blackberry, white pepper and spice notes, along with complexity-building coffee and chocolate characteristics. Aged in new and seasoned American oak, imbuing this wine with a subtle vanilla quality that nicely complements the focused fruit notes. My note: Zinmasters! These folks know how to make zinfandel blind-folded. Classic aromas of blackberry and blueberry. Full-bodied and smooth. Drink: 2011-2016. 719211 15% XD 750 mL  $24.95 Score: 92/100.
