St. Hallett Gamekeeper's Shiraz Grenache 2010, Barossa Valley, Australia: Baked cherries and kirsch on the nose with a warm, peppery finish. Full-bodied and tasty. Great value. This winery has been making classic wine in the heart of the Barossa Valley since 1944. In Australia, this blend of Shiraz and Grenache grapes along with a dash of the flagship Portuguese grape Touriga Nacional is called the Gamekeeper’s Reserve. Although the alcohol is high, this full-bodied wine is nimble on its feet and tastes balanced and just right. Tommasi Arele Parziale Appassimento 2011, I.G.T., Veronese, Italy: Love the black pepper juiciness of this red! Fleshy black cherries with some tart blackberries mingled in. Absolutely delicious! The grapes for this wine dried for a month, in the traditional method. This gives incredible intensity and depth to the wine. The traditional Corvina and Oseleta grapes are used in the blend. Momo Seresin Estate Pinot Noir 2010, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand: Big and juicy with pleasingly tart and vibrant cherry aromas and flavours. Mouth-watering acidity is fantastic for a range of dishes. Smooth and medium- to full-bodied. Very tasty. Absolutely needs food.
