Marlborough, New Zealand

Reviewed: November 6, 2010

My Review: Beautiful tropical fruit and zesty minerality on the soft nose that also follow through on the palate. A Great wine! Score: 92/100

    Alpine Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2011

    Wairau Marlborough, New Zealand

    Reviewed: June 22, 2012

    $14.95

My Review: Beautiful medium intensity nose of all sorts of tropical fruit, as well as citrus and a little minerality. Mango comes through on the palate along with a little bit of effervescence. Excellent character and complexity, just a little shy in balance. Wonderful at $15! Score: 92/100

      88/100

Ardal Crianza Bodegas Alitus Balbás Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

      D.O., Ribero Del Duero, Spain

      $17.95

My Review: Many layers on the nose with dark chocolate, oak, vanilla, plum, and red cherry coming through. Very nice on the palate with LOTS of structure, full body and lots of round tannins. Still lots of ruby colour on the rim, so could age well. A nice winter warmer-upper! Score: 93/100

Marqués de Murrieta Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 1991

        Rioja, Spain

        $149.00

My Review: Well described as a gradual crescendo that comes and goes slowly. This '91 is a beauty and certainly not passed its peak. Completely integrated oak and even some red fruit! Score: 94/100
