Closson Chase South Clos Chardonnay 2011

VQA, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada

Reviewed: September 13, 2013

My Review: A definite highlight from my recent trip to #PEC wineries. Brilliant yellow. Medium body. Tropical fruit, peach, golden apple, grass, banana bread aromas. Smooth, buttery mouthfeel with long vanilla and butter tart finish. Absolutely delightful. Creamy pasta dishes, cheese/fruit tray, seafood, roasted chicken or pork. It's that good! Score: 93/100

    Norman Hardie Reisling 2011

    Prince Edward County, Canada

My Review: #HappyCanadaDay2013 Loved this wine! Brilliant straw colour. Lovely tree fruit including apple, peach, pear, apricot with citrus notes. Refreshing and long finish. Enjoyed with my Caesar salad @TheShoreClubCA in Ottawa. Score: 90/100

Beringer Vineyards Stone Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

      California, United States

My Review: Like a favourite old T-shirt. Soft, smooth, comforting and easy. Nice dark fruit. Can feel the warm sun in the glass. Enjoyed US July 4th with hamburgers and potato salad. And great value at$13.95. Score: 88/100

        Mcmanis Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

My Review: Beautiful in the glass. Delightful on the palate. Everyithing I love about California cabs. Luscious dark fruit, smoke, vanilla, and a touch of late afternoon California sun! I enjoyed it on it's own but break it out at a BBQ, or with chocolate dessert. Score: 89/100

Sterling Vineyards Vintner's Collection Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

          Central Coast, California, United States

My Review: Always one of my go-to wines. I'm never disappointed. Classic California cab. Dark ruby red. Full bodied black fruit. Bakers chocolate, oak and herbal. Smooth going down with a little heat. Great with grilled steak but this one can stand on it's own anytime! Score: 92/100

            Mark West Pinot Noir 2011

            California, United States

My Review: Medium bodied lovely from California. Lots of red fruit - red cherry, pomegranate, plums, some earthiness, oak, and herbs. Everything together so subtle but rich and sure to be a favourite. If only we got more of Mark West at LCBO. Until then I'm California Dreamin'. Score: 92/100

              La Crema Pinot Noir 2012

              Sonoma Coast, California, United States

My Review: One of my go-to labels. Not as well rounded as the 2011 but still a lovely expression of Russian River Valley Pinot. Smooth black plum, cherry, raspberry, leather, oak. A little more heat on the finish than I like but a shy sweetness comes through! Score: 85/100
