All the grapes for this sparkling wine come from the Marlborough region. It's crisp and clean with lovely notes of green melon and green apple. Perfect as an aperitif or companion to seafood and vegetarian dishes. The winemaker Anthony calls 2009 a terrific vintage. Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
Malcolm Lamont rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review: Uncorking the Kim Crawford tasting with Anthony Walkenhorst, with their brand new Small parcels Sparkling wine. Rich ripe tropical fruit and citrus from this Pinot Noir / Chardonnay blend, with biscuity complexity being added by the 42 months of lees exposure this wine has seen. Beautifully balanced on the palate, with a really nice Fizzz or small well populated bubbles. A beautiful wine, can't wait to see it at the LCBO! Tasted October 2, 2013
Matt Steeves rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: Another Small Parcels premium product from Kim Crawford in NZ. This 2009 KC "Fizz" methode traditionnelle sparkling wine is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Marlborough. It spent 42 months on its lees and the depth of flavour reflects that. Loaded with delicate orchard fruit notes and flavours, fresh baked bread, incredible minerality (making it exceptionally food friendly), delicate micro bubbles all makes this a terrific and affordable alternative to vintage Champagne. A wine I'd recommend buying by the case and watching it evolve over the years. 91 points.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: Lots of flavor here, green apple, melon, peaches- and wonderful mouthfeel. Niice bubbles and would be divine with garlic shrimps or baked balsamic kale chips! Yum! Great vintage - for this product!
Heather Wall rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: A beautiful start to lunch featuring Kim Crawford wines. Plentiful bubbles wash the palate. Tree fruit, melon, bakers yeast, citrus on the nose and palate. Clean, crisp acidity. Lovely on it's own. Look forward to it's arrival at LCBO stores and at approx $30 is good value for this stunner. Clink!
Mark Cochrane rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review: It was a real pleasure to be one of the first people in Ottawa to sample the Kim Crawford Fizz Methode Traditionelle 2009. A light effervescent blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay makes a nice crisp sparkling wine with flavours of citrus, apple and some biscuit. A nice alternative to a Cava or Presecco
Jane Staples rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review: It's always time for a glass of fizz. Today I discovered Kim Crawford Fizz Methode Tradtionelle. This is a great sparkler to bring out any time you feel like celebrating Life! With apple and citrus notes, it is made from 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay.
Dan Carkner reviewed this wine as follows: 60% Pinot noir, 40% Chardonnay, vinified in the traditional method. Small production and careful vinification result in a balanced wine sure to please bubbly fans. Classic aromas of Asian pear and bruised apple are complemented by chalky minerality and yeasty notes. Fine bubbles and flavors of cooked orchard fruit persist through the finish. A dry style sparkler well aged on its lees (42 months!) this offering is fantastic as an apperatif but is just in time to pair with fall fare featuring roasted apple and pear.
This stunning wine exhibits refined citrus, apple aromas with brioche complexity, while the palate displays wonderful finesse and a silken texture Source: Agent (Constellation Brands Inc.)
