|Located in the commune of Saint-Aignan, to the west of neighbouring Pomerol and Saint Émilion, the Hauchat property was re-acquired in 1973 by the Saby family, who have made wine in the region for eight generations.|
On the high plateau of Saint-Aignan, the Château is in one of the finest growing areas of the Fronsac appellation. Two of its most distinctive features are the homogeneity of the well drained clay-limestone soil and perfect exposure to the sun. In addition to its ideal terroir, Château Hauchat’s success is also due to the Merlot, its single grape variety.
This 2006 is a lively ruby colour with both aromatic richness and the complexity of ripe fruit, toasted notes, vanilla and other spices. On the palate, it is a round, meaty wine with the rich tannins that blend in well through the long, enjoyable finish

Vinification: fermentation 5 days; maceration approximately 4.5 weeks
Aging: 15 months - 1/3 in new barrels, 1/3 in 1 year old barrels and 1/3 in two year old barrels
