Ganton & Larsen Propect Winery Admiral Shorts Tawny
Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: September 11, July 26, September 12 and March 7.
A tawny port-style wine that also brings in nuances of marsala and madeira with its baked fruit and almond essence. Lovely caramel and pleasantly flame-scorched creme brulee notes on the finish. You can't beat this price for a dessert wine. Tawny food pairings: Fresh pears, Roquefort, Stilton or Blue cheese.
Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
|Our non-vintage Okanagan Tawny is the colour of burnished mahogany. This is an elegant dessert wine with flavours of brown sugar, hazelnut, caramel and exotic spices swirling|
around a core of fresh grapes and dried fig with a dry finish.
This wine has been barrel aged for 15 years.
