Carmen Gran Reserva Syrah 2009 Wine Review
Purple and black plums and blueberries on the nose. Generous, supple and full-bodied on the palate, loaded with dark fruit flavour. Lip-smaking tasty. This Carmen Gran Reserva Syrah 2009 was reviewed by February 2, 2013 Natalie MacLean

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
Dan Trcka rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: The 2009 Carmen Gran Reserva (100%) Syrah, which was aged for 10 months in 60% French and 40% American oak barrels, has intense aromas of eucalyptus, stewed prunes, vanilla and oak. It is a full to thick bodied, extra-dry, fruity wine; balanced – with checked acidity, chalky mouthfeel, refined tannins (decant for 15 min) and a long finish. This one is a sipper: drink now or cellar till 2020+ as it has an evolution potential of +1 or 2 pts. My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 89-90 pts (+1 or 2) – recommended for its quality and value. Gabriel Israel rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: A nice day-to-day Syrah from Chile. Medium+ body. Balanced acidity. Notes of blueberry on the nose and palate. Casis. Dark overriped fruit. Bitter-sweet finish. Good value.
Darlene Myers rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: Medium to full bodied wine with blackberry and plum. It's been aged in oak. Pleasant easy to drink wine.
High-toned aromas of cream, raisin, cassis, dark chocolate, eucalyptus, sous-bois and vanilla. Aromatic palate with lifted redcurrant fruit, mineral and savoury notes and refreshing acidity. Layered and integrated – a lovely example of Apalta. Drink 2012. Score: 4 (out of 5) Source: Decanter, Undated
