Savoury and meaty with chewy dark fruit flavours. Well-structured. Decant for 2 hours or hold in the cellar for a few years if you can resist.

Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

The 2008 Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a medium bodied, fruity to integrated wine. It has intense aromas of black currant, oak, coconut, vanilla and smoke on the nose and black currant and vanilla on the palate. It has a sharp acidity, refined tannins (decant for 30 min) and a long overoaked finish. Ready to drink now or can be cellared standing up (screw cap) for another 5-10 years. Drink-how: it is quite overpowering for most foods, good as a sipper - especially at parties as it has a mass appeal. My impression: NICE, 90-91 pts - though overoaked, for this level of complexity it's reasonably priced. Tasted Aug/12.

The wine seems to have been around forever, and so it has: this is the 53rd vintage. It is barrel-aged in French oak, 31% new, and comes from the top 25% of the available cabernet resources of Wynns. It is rich and luscious, with blackcurrant and dark chocolate aromas and flavours, the palate lengthened and strengthened by ripe yet fine tannins. Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
