Floral on the nose with a steely dry finish on the palate. If you love Torrontes from Argentina, try this: slightly dried but it has that seductive floral signature. This is a terrific, mouth-watering aperitif with dry lemon notes. Grillo is an increasingly popular Italian grape. I can imagine a glass of this chilled sitting out on the deck or patio.

Grillo food pairings: seafood salad.

Grillo is an up-and-coming Italian variety, and this award-winning example (Silver Medal at the 2011 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles) shows why. Aromas suggest almond, apple, pear, peach, spice and citrus. Dry and quite fresh with fine aroma replays on the palate. Perfect wine for late-summer alfresco dining as an aperitif.
