Reviews and Ratings

Beverly Crandon rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Being created in Valpantena, the only cru denomination in the Valpolicella area, I expected to be wowed by Bertani’s Amarone, and I was. On colour, this Amarone holds a deep, full, ruby red hue, with sensational edges. On the nose, the aromatic intensity is energetic and held scents reminiscent of smokiness, spice and chocolate. On the palate, you are wowed with the full mouth feel of this wine and its refined tannins, robust fruitiness, and spicy undertones. Each sip of this Bertani Amarone is a reminder of its superior vinification and elegance. If you are interested in introducing your palate to the world of Amarone, for the first time, Bertani Villa Arvedi Amarone Della Valpolicella, 2008, is a fantastic choice.
Deep ruby colour with aromas of chocolate, dried cherry, plum, raisin, raspberry, blackberry, balsamic and smoky charcoal notes. Full bodied and roundly textured with the flavours echoing the complex aromas. It’s balanced by lively acidity and dusty tannins and finishes dry. Should continue to evolve with some short-term ageing. A terrific after-dinner wine with 70%+ cacao dark chocolate. Source: Vintages Wine Catalogue.
