This full-bodied red wine is at or just slightly past peak. Still drinking beautifully, but the fruit is completely mature now and I suggest cracking it open now.

Reviews and Ratings

Linda rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Smooth, goes great with steak, let breathe, definitely buy again - drinks like a $35 bottle of wine
Louise Wilson - ISG Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Spicy black fruit and toasty oak on the nose are joined by hints of bramble and campfire smoke on the palate. The tannins have had a chance to soften and the oak has become integrated. Drinking well now and over the next 2 years. Pair with charbroiled anything.
The 2006 includes a good dollop cab franc, all matured in mostly older oak. Ripe black-berried fruit aromas, earthy undertones. Full bodied; firm, fine tannins, good acidity, lingering finish. Score - 4 Stars out of 5 (Excellent) Source: Jörg Pfützner, Platter's South African Wine Guide, 2013

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
