Reviews and Ratings

A smooth, juicy, mouth-watering Italian red wine with black cherry and black raspberry flavours. Smoky finish. Great value. Pair with spicy sausages. MINE: This wine is named after the Valpantena Valley where the winery is located. Valpantena is a Greek word that means "valley of the gods." The 2013 vintage of this Valpolicella Ripasso has racy acidity. OTHER: Gwen Barton rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: Fruit forward with aromas of cherry , raspberry and cassis. Juicy, smooth and mouth-watering. Medium-bodied, well-balanced with liquorice and spice on the finish. I enjoyed this with friends on a cold winter afternoon with chips and salsa. Great value wine! OTHER: Cherie Cole rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: Blackberry, cassis, cherry and licorice embody the aromas and flavours of this wine. A great pairing with bbq ribs or lamb stew. Great value wine to enjoy often. Tasted August, 2016. OTHER: : According to the winery, "Valpantena" means "Valley of the gods" in Greek, but in Verona's traditions, it has taken on the meaning of "Valley of all wines." This Ripasso offers heavenly aromas of plum, raisin, dried orange peel, baking spices and a touch of coffee. It's got a nice savoury-spicy-smoky interplay on the palate. Pair with grilled burgers or mushroom risotto. (Vintages panel, Oct. 2016). - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
