Vintages Wine Panel: In 1993, Tyrrell’s mistakenly left an entire parcel of Semillon on the vine allowing it to ripen more than usual. When this happy accident was finally discovered, the soft, fruit-forward wine that resulted immediately found favour in the market and the “Lost Block” was born. Pale lemon colour. Aromas of nectarine, melon, limeade and apricot. Dry, with a big, bracing wash of acidity. Good balance. Refreshingly crisp, lingering finish. My note: Lemon lanolin with a refreshing zestiness yet rich texture. Lovely white for so many dishes.

Semillon food pairings: sautéed mussels, barbecued freshwater fish, pizza with spinach and feta cheese.
