Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Well, it’s almost the end of October and I have turned to reds. Last of the sparkling rose went out with Turkey Day and now we are into rich, lush, fragrant, velvety reds. I typically start the season with a Tormaresca wine, usually the Neprica IGT Puglia. But recently, at a Mark Anthony Wine Group portfolio tasting, I came across Tormaresca Trentangeli, Rosso Castel del Monte DOC 2010. Simply put, it’s scary good for the occasion. The nose is totally berry fruit, well-defined blueberry, mulberry and raspberry, met with cedar, vanilla more anise than liquorice, mineral and flint notes The organic grapes that make up this wine are Aglianico (70%) Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) and Syrah (10%). Along with the gentle vinification treatment and the wine mastery in the cellar, this vintage was blessed with the right amount of spring rain, heat and sunshine in August in September and it shows with the abundance of berry fruit on the palate, medium acidity, velvety tannins, long length, well-structured and overall balanced. Drink now with roast leg of lamb, roast pheasant or rabbit.
