Loaded with black fruit, dark spice and meaty notes. This full-bodied southern Italian red wine was oak aged and is a great wine for the cellar. Pair with prime rib.

Trentangeli food pairings: grilled pork sausage, hard cheeses, veal chops, meat lover's pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Gorgeous colour! A southern Italian red blend - Aglianico 65%, Cabernet Sauvignon 25% and Syrah 10%. Organically grown and harvested grapes.

Deep inky and opaque ruby. Pronounced aromas of blackberry, light plum, cassis, smoke, grilled red pepper, Star anise, fennel, cooked cherries with a note of earthiness and mint. On the palate - rich full dark cherry, light skinned plums repeated, cooked strawberries, licorice, black pepper heat and anise. An herbal note also present. Medium plus acidity, body and tannins with pepper heat on the finish. Incredibly well rounded and balanced. A little bit of salty earth on the tongue. Rich and elegant.

Pair with flank steak and red pepper salad or medium salty cheeses, Swiss, Manchego or Gruyere. 94 points - November 2017
Caitlin Coleman rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Big and full, this wine gives you a hit of fresh raspberries on the nose. Tangy citrus notes on the palate with lots of red fruit. Organic and biodynamic, sultry tannin and lots of body.
Wineboy rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

If organic is important to you, this is a winner. Cassis and nutty flavours intertwine along with some judicious use of oak. Organic wine has improved drastically over the last decade but it can still be tough to find as nice a one as this.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Juicy, balanced, big red and blackberry fruit, medium plus body, tannins, acidity. Pairs well with bbq steak, or braised beef lasagna. Tasted 2014 vintage in Nov 2017 89 points.
Love this Puglian red from producer, Tormaresca. Trentangeli (2014) is great value organic red wine for under $20. This full-bodied southern Italian is a red wine blend of 70% Aglianico, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah. - Community Wine Reviews
