Toasted Head Shiraz 2007
Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 5, February 26, September 11 and July 26.
Toasted Head Shiraz 2007 Wine Review
Toasted Head refers to the ends of barrels in which this wine is aged. Although most barrels on only toasted or charred on their sides, those used for this wine are also toasted on their ends. This gives a smoky, rich character to the wine. This Shiraz bursts with gorgeously ripe black cherries, mocha and hickory smoke. This is a solid value for this full-bodied red with dense black fruit notes. Food matches: red meats, spicy pasta. 4.4/5
