Vintages Wine Panel: As with France, Italian producers are beginning to move away from the DOC designations in favour of the EU-approved designations. In this case, the new designation is DOP, which means Denominazione di Origine Protteta (a protected designation of origin). My note: Love it! Crisp and toasty with a touch melon sweetness.

Prosecco food pairings: appetizers, asparagus dishes, seafood courses.

The bubbles, racy acidity and cold temperature invigorate the palate, much like a crisp salad. This wine from Italy is better than most proseccos, with a core of almost-sweet red apple, orange-juice and lemon flavours. Serve it as an aperitif or with cool appetizers. Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
