A glorious Niagara red wine blend from a much-respected winery in a spectacular vintage: the perfect (good) storm comes together in a glass. Aromas of cassis, black currant and wild blackberry with some clove-spice on the finish. Great cellar wine. Pair with rare meats.

Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Deep dark ruby red appearance and deep robust body and fruit concentration. This Ontario gem is rich with moderate berry and graphite minerality aromas. The palate is juicy and mouthwatering with ripe berry flavours, moderately high but integrated tannins, and a long mint finish. Overall, it's a delicious and a pleasant surprise. It's admirably blended and balanced. A worthy holiday treasure for the appreciator of fine Canadian Wines. Tasted Nov 2016 - @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A blend of Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Tannat. Gives rich dark red berries and leather on nose, followed by an elegant palate with layers of red currants, plums, leather, vanilla, mocha and slight mint. Extra-dry, well-structured with lingering layered finish. Could cellar up to 2021. This has so much going on, just pour a glass and savour it slowly.

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Stratus Red 2012 - Deep and inky, with tart dark fruit and loaded with grippy tannins. A blend of 29% Cab Sauv; 26% Cab Franc; 26% Merlot; 13 % Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec; 3% Tannat. A cellar candidate and a must decant. Enjoy 2016-2026. Tasted November 2016. 91 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
The 2012 vintage of the Stratus Red is a blend of 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc, 13% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec and 3% Tannat grapes. Great structure, firm tannins and a long finish. Could also cellar for 10 years. - Community Wine Reviews
