Reviews and Ratings

Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

If its true there are only 9 bottles left then you should rush to the LCBO and get yours now. Having visited this winery I have seen first hand the care and detail that is put into making all the Speri wines - and this is no exception. Lush, lots of black fruit - blackberries, plums and velvety tannins. The nose has all that and some leather and smoke notes as well. My favourite pairing is with Saint Agur blue cheese.
This Italian red wine from Valpolicella is a single-vineyard Amarone. Lots of layers, cracked black pepper, dark spice. This is a blend of 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, and 5% Molinara grapes from vines grown on steep slopes with great sun exposure. The grapes are dried for 100 days in drying rooms via the Appassimento method and lose 40% of their initial weight, thus concentrating in flavour. The wine was aged in oak barrels for 36 months. - Community Wine Reviews
