Masi is one of Italy's best-known producers of Amarone, the wine equivalent of Dante's Inferno -- and yes Dante is the inspiration and ancestor for the family making this wine today (Serego Alighieri Dante). Unlike the Inferno however, this wine is balanced and not at all hot on the palate. Rather, it is very full-bodied with layers of complexity and dark fruit and a terrific long finish that lasts for, well, an eternity.

Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico food pairings: blue cheeses, lasagna, venison, beef daube, leg of lamb.

Gorgeous Gift Wine
