Lovely richness and depth, and a price that is a steal. Full-bodied and smooth. Crack one (or three) open at your next pizza night or get together with friends who understand you.

Merlot food pairings: bbq spareribs, grilled steak, prime rib.

More Wine Reviews and Ratings

Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

The 2010 Santa Carolina Merlot Reserva is a light to medium bodied, fruity wine with notes of blackberry, prune and smoke. It has subtle to refined tannins (decant for 15 min) and a medium finish. Drink now and for the next 2 years. My impression: NOTHING SPECIAL to NICE, 87 pts - great value for $12. Tasted Sept/11.
Community Reviewer reviewed this wine as follows:

Rich and velvety with plum, prune and violet aromas with hints of vanilla and cinnamon, this is a full-bodied wine with a lingering finish

Riche et velouté avec des arômes de prunes, de pruneaux et de violettes et des soupçons de vanille et de cannelle, c’est un vin charnu au fini durable.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
