|Jessica Nagy ISG Level II rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:|
Appearance: A deep purple wine, opaque at the centre to almost clear at the rim.
Nose: Black cherry and plum on the nose. A good balance of fruit and more complex spicy, oak.
Tasting Notes: The palate mirrors the nose, with nice soft tannins. It’s very well balanced for an easy-drinking wine with a moderate alcohol level that would pair nicely with a mid-week bbq or a Friday night on it’s own.
Conclusion: 2010 was an excellent vintage in Ontario and Baco Noir is right at home in the soils of Prince Edward County. Plus, there’s the added bonus of knowing that Sandbanks practices sustainable farming and doesn’t use herbicides or pesticides. At just under $15 a bottle, this is an excellent, affordable, quality wine you won’t be embarrassed to take to the in-laws.
