Reviews and Ratings

Tania Thomas - CSW, WSET ADV rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

Wow, this is a truly exceptional wine. Beautifully intense and complex, crafted with great finesse. Fleshy and generous, with great structure. Aromas and flavours of ripe blackberries and plums with pronounced notes of black olives, rosemary and thyme. A hint of minerality. Smooth, ripe tannins. Closes with a long, elegant cedar-tinged finish. This is an excellent partner for a tray of charcuterie and mature cheeses. Drink now or if able to wait, this will reward for another 5+ years in the cellar. Tasted June 2017. Tania Thomas – www.runawaygrape.com
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This wine was a true pleasure to try. There are a lot of aromas coming through and all seem to balance well. Aromas include ripe plums, allspice, briny olives and a bit of a cured meat note - all coming together in a very enjoyable way! Full bodied, the flavours come together with the help of 25% of the wine having seen oak. Overall nicely balanced, some smooth tannin helps to add some structure. Enjoy this with a steak, or a lovely charcuterie platter and some flavourful cheeses, but it will even work well with a dark chocolate flourless cake Enjoy!
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

A very distinctive Syrah from Chile's Elqui Valley. Rich aromatics with lots of green olive notes, dark stewed fruit and salami, and a very savoury palate that shows predominant green olive flavours, salinity and umami. Excellent acidity and lingering finish. Enjoy this with Chilean "pichanga", or dill pickles and your next smoked meat sandwich for a flavour treat. This would probably be a great match for a summery glass of gazpacho, too.

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A unique (weirdo) but amazing Syrah! An interesting Chilean Syrah hailing from the higher altitude vineyards of the Elqui Valley. Aromas and flavours are intense with pronounced black plum, earthy underbrush, smoked meat and black olive notes. Tannins are smooth and flavours are long lasting It's a full-bodied, juicy, mouthwatering Syrah with a noticeable finesse and elegant structure. Lynn van der Linde - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

There is so much happening on the nose of this unique wine! Aromas of rosemary, cured meat, olives and a hint of eucalyptus, that convert into flavours of plum, vanilla and cloves, and a persistent spicy finish. I would pair this unique wine with a charcuterie platter or what Chileans call a Pichanga (or a “messy” dish of meats, and pickled onions, olives, and peppers). Personally, I loved pairing this with a rich chocolate cake with raspberry coulis.
