Reviews and Ratings

Courtney Flood rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

This is a wine to meditate on. The beautiful aromas of sweet cherry, lilac, leather, cedar, and mushrooms are like aromatherapy. Bright, brilliant palate that builds to a crescendo, lingers softly. Brilliant. I wouldn't bury this wine under food.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A bold Sangiovese featuring aromas and flavours of black raspberry, iron, blueberry, dark baker’s chocolate, cherries, scorched earth, tar, and singed vanilla. The tannins are quite present at the moment. Drink 2014-2020. 92 Points -Rachel (ottawawinejournal.com)
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Dark ruby and almost opaque. Black cherry, leather, tar, mocha, bakers chocolate, cigar box, vanilla and oak. A layered and complex beauty. Full bodied and XD. Tannins indicate age worthy but drinking nicely now. Delicious with our Red Pepper and Squash purees. Go figure! It worked!
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

The storied Tuscan winery, Ruffino, produces terrific wines and this is a great example of that. Beautiful Tuscan wine with plum, cherry, mint, leather, cedar, and graphite on the nose. Superbly balanced, with ample tannins that will allow this wine to age gracefully for 10 years, but why wait when it's drinking so well now.
Tasted August 2014. 90 points. Matt Steeves - @QuercusVino
Chris Coughlin - WSET level 3 grad rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Old world classic, soft tannins, stewed and dark fruit flavours, subtle all around. Pair with roasted meat dishes.
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

August 17, 2014: Medium ruby, berry and darker fruit, violet, dried herbs and toasty/smoky hints. Medium-full bodied, dried cherry, berry, earthy, tar and savoury. Well balanced and can be enjoyed for many years to come.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Deep, ruby coloured wine. A rich nose of dried berries, leather, plum, and a touch of vanilla lingering in the oak. Full bodied, rich and flavourful with a long finish and a hint of cocoa. Tannins are prominent, but not overwhelming. A lovely wine to enjoy on its own or with a beautiful roast.
Martha Kelly AIWS - CS rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A Sangiovese dominated blend with Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) and Merlot (10%) this Chianti displays flavours of ripe red cherry, mushrooms, roses, and spice. It has refreshing acidity and medium plus grainy tannins that will help it to age gracefully.
Pair with beef stews or pungent cheeses.
Drink now or cellar through 2019.
Date tasted: November 2014.
Community Reviewer reviewed this wine as follows:

Full-bodied, very powerful in the fruity tastes, with tannins that are elegant and well linked to a good acidity. The final is characterized by pleasant sensations of sweet tobacco. The aftertaste is particularly long and shows powerful notes of plums and more light aromas of clove.
