Mocha and dark chocolate from loads of oak aging. At 15% alcohol, this is hefty. Not a lot of ripe fruit here, mostly oak. MINE: Rodney Strong is well-known in California for big, blockbuster red wines. This Zinfandel is no exception. Pair with pepperoni pizza. OTHER: Trevor Sabourin - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: This zinfandel strikes a great balance between fruit and oak character. The aromas are of raspberry and blackberry jam, sweet cherries, toast, coffee, smoke, menthol, cinnamon, sage, and leather. On the palate there is fresh red and black berries and cherries, toast, vanilla, warm baking spices, menthol, tobacco, and black olive. At 15% alcohol, the wine is big and mouthfilling, but held together nicely by medium tannins and medium-high acidity. Finishes with coffee, red fruits, spice, and mint. Very tasty and enjoyable. Pair with smoky ribs or steak. OTHER: Ladybugs, such as the one on the label, are used as an eco-friendly tactic for controlling pests in the vineyard through natural predation - adult ladybugs can eat 50 aphids a day and up to 5,000 over the course of their lifespan. This Cabernet Sauvignon has certainly made the most of their protection with its ripe raspberry, cherry, and blueberry tones, plus campfire smoke, graphite and vanilla. Smooth and long with good balance, this will be a great choice for burgers or steak. (Vintages panel, Jan. 2017). - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
