Reviews and Ratings

Courtney Flood rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Very lovely aromas of charred pink grapefruit, spicy pink peppercorn, and pineapple. Equally lively and dynamic on the palate. Crisp acidity

Pair with lobster and grilled pineapple salsa
Tania Thomas - CSW, WSET ADV rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

A Mondavi classic, this fantastic white is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and a touch of Sémillon. Full bodied, beautifully complex with rich mouthfeel due to barrel-fermentation and lees aging. Perfectly balanced aromas and flavours of zippy citrus and honeydew melon with a touch of minerality and well integrated oak. Closes in a long, lingering crisp finish. Pair with succulent grilled lobster. Tasted May 2016/92 points. Tania Thomas – www.runawaygrape.com
Jacky Blisson rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Pale straw. Fragrant grassy, gooseberry, citrus laden nose, very similar to Graves whites but with a riper fruit profile and a touch of pastry and cream. Lovely balance of fresh acidity, medium body and a layered, creamy texture. Citrus and gooseberry notes return on the finish. The oak is well integrated. Very stylish.
Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Fumé Blanc is a wine I reach for more and more when transitioning from summer to fall and Robert Mondavi produces some of the finest available. In fact it was Robert Mondavi that pioneered this wine style in Napa Valley in the 1960s, when he named his barrel-aged Sauvignon Blanc 'Fumé Blanc'. The 2014 is a blend of 94% Sauvignon Blanc and 6% Sémillon, sourced from the world-famous Napa Valley. Hand harvested, whole cluster pressed, with the majority barrel fermented and then aged for nine months sûr lie to impart a subtle richness and mid-palate mouthfeel that complements and adds further complexity to the inherently fresh and crisp nature of the Sauvignon Blanc. The nose shows lemon-lime, white peach, green melon, gooseberry, sweet herbs, and flinty minerality. The palate offers refreshing citrus and tropical fruits, with lemon grass and crisp minerality on the long finish. Enjoy with Tex-Mex cuisine, creamy lemon-shrimp pasta, or spicy Asian dishes. Tasted September 2017. 90 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Anne Ellenberger rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Liked it, but have found but a bit expensive for my taste.
Alex & Priya - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 84/100 with the following review:

Priya: Let me start by saying I am not a fan of sauvignon blanc. The smell of cat pee is not something I appreciate, not when my cats angrily go outside the litter box and not in my wine. 83pts

Alex: Tropical, grassy Sauvignon Blanc here with a deft kiss of vanilla and nutmeg to frame the grapefruit, jalapeño, lemon and guava notes on the nose. Creamy, but overtly grassy and bitter on the palate. Bone dry, with quite bracing acidity for Napa. Well made, but a tad too grassy. 85 pts
Emilie Ryan rated this wine as 82/100 with the following review:

Good for the patio…
Presentation: Understated, clean
Appearance: Very light yellow
Nose: White peaches, apricots, grapefruit
Taste: Citrus, floral, grass
Finish: Bitter and flat (ends quickly)
Overall impression: A patio sipping wine
Value: 3/5
