Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 5, February 26, September 11 and July 26.
RavensWood Zinfandel 2011 Wine Review
Absolutely superb and classic Californian zin! Purple and black fleshy plums aromas along with blueberries and brambleberries. Full-bodied and ultra-smooth. Perfect for pizza and hamburgers. Yum! 4.5/5 Zinfandel food pairings: hamburgers, prime rib. Best Beef Wine

More and more I find myself opening Zinfandel, and this one is I have had a few times lately. Zinfandel is such a food friendly wine and this Ravenswood is such great value. Flavors of black cherry and vanilla make for a beautiful smooth Zinfandel, that goes great with a wide variety of foods.

Ravenswood continues to deliver year after year with its base bottling. Juicy black raspberry, currants, spice, and vanilla. 90 Points. (ottawawinejournal.com)

This is everything an excellent Californian Zinfandel should be: ripe and juicy, with stewed fruits and dark cherries on the palate, and a smoky finish. A great accompaniment to a summer BBQ, and would also pair well with charcuterie and hard cheeses. Fantastic value!

balanced tannin. earthy nose. fruit forward with dry finish
