An opulent, robust red wine brought to us by Maria Manuela, with dollops of fleshy dark cherries, raisins and hickory smoke. Some dark spices on the finish. Terrific! This is a Portuguese red wine blend of 50% Touriga Franca, 30% Tinta Roriz, and 20% Touriga Nacional grapes. Finishes with dark spices. Decant 1 hour and enjoy with hearty meat dishes.

Food pairings: smoky burgers, steaks, flavourful cheeses.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Smokey fleshy dark fruit, herbs, anise on the nose. The wine is full bodied with mouth coating tannins. Enjoy with rich beef stew. Tasted January 2015. 89 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
This is a robust Spanish red wine blend of Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional grapes. The vines grow in a 12 hectare sloping vineyard along the Portuguese Douro River. The grapes undergo a long maceration and fermentation in granite vats, then a secondary malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks to smooth the acids. The wine is unfiltered. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
